The New Universal Transmitter!
Ian Loudon

The newly released feature packed Universal Programmable Transmitter (Omniterm TxB - as we call it, Model No C2401A) is shipping from our factory. Any input type to any output type is the name of the game here. Thermocouples, RTDs, Voltage and Current are accepted directly and you choose the output range you require, 4-20mA, 1-5V, 0-10V or -10mA to +10mA etc.

The Omniterm TxB is a fully isolated Din Rail Mounting 4 Wire Transmitter can be powered from a 20 to 30V dc supply and has the following key features.

  • TC/mV/VC/RB universal input
  • 0(4)-20mA / 0-± 10V / 0-± 10mA universal output
  • 24Vdc powered
  • Three port isolation to 1500Vac
  • Software configurable
  • Sensor linearisation standard
  • Output overload detection and indicator
  • Custom linearisation

1200 signal conditioners on your plant! How many spares do you keep?

Sound like a situation you are familiar with? It could actually be worse than this when you look at the problem in detail. How do you balance the cost of holding spares against plant downtime?. Different inputs and different ranges all add to the overall critical spares inventory problem. Save yourself a lot of expense and money tied up in inventory and eliminate a lot of aggravation.

Using TxBs you can change all this. One unit does all.

What you need with the Omniterm TxBs:

  • A Standard Programming Cable Model No. C1168A
  • The Configuration Software (Standard OmniSet) with..
  • The TxB DVX Template configuration File
  • Your PC with a serial port (DB9 adapter)

The Software is free - downloadable from the Website.
The cable is also free if you purchased 10 or more TxB's . If you are an Omni16C User chances are you have already got nearly everything you need. The programming cable is shipped with a CD containing Standard OmniSet and the latest DVX Template file for configuring the Omniterm TxB.

How hard is it to set up?

It's really simple and more important quick!

DIP Switches

Set the DIP switches top and bottom of the housing to the desired input or outputs type to be used e.g. 3 wire RTD is different to Thermocouples. The housing is screened with the settings, so you don't really need the Instruction Guide in the TxB packing box.

Configuration (11 mouse clicks and 3 minutes of your time)

Load the software, connect the TxB to your PC using the cable, select the options required, 11 mouse clicks and 3 minutes of your time!, save the configuration you have chosen for future use or reference. The job is done.

Your Instrument workshop will thank you for switching, they can even save the configuration files on the computer hard disk for future use.

We also offer the configuration service from the Factory free of charge.

TxB solves many other plant problems

One product does all means you don't need much in the way of spare inventory to cover all the options. In addition you can also tackle other on-site signal conditioning problems like:

  • Grounded Thermocouples
  • Sensor to PLC/DCS Isolation.
  • Sensor Linearisation Applications
  • Reverse action signals for controllers.
  • Bi-Polar Outputs
  • Non Standard Ranging applications
  • Custom Linearisation e.g. The cylindrical Tank volume.

Whats so special about the Programming Cable C1168A?

Remember this is a special cable with isolation to protect your PC from the Plant. Isolation prevents floating voltages often present from damaging your PC serial port. A costly mistake indeed.

No 24V dc supply available for my TxB?

Try using it with the PAF PSU unit Model No. C2440A 85-264Vac input 24Vdc output. The Low cost PAF can power 4 TxBs, is the same size as the TxB and fits next to the TxBs on the DIN Rail.
